BJP, Congress Lock Horns Over 10-Year Performance: White Paper vs Black Paper

BJP and Congress

BJP and Congress

The main opposition Congress presented a “black paper” in response to the “white paper” detailing the Narendra Modi government’s accomplishments during the previous ten years. Targeting the Center, Congressman Mallikarjun Kharge released the black paper this morning.

The number of jobs awarded will never be disclosed by the government. The MGNREGA money are being released. States are being discriminated against by them, Mr. Kharge claimed. He retorted, “You are ruling today, what have you done to control inflation today?” in response to the Center’s criticism of Congress ideologues Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.

The BJP government’s white paper, which outlined its accomplishments since taking office in 2014, was outperformed by the Congress action. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman declared the government will present a “white paper” to both Houses of Parliament “to look at where we were till 2014 and where we are now” during her budget statement on February 1. She stated that the sole intention behind her action was “to learn from the mismanagement of those years.”

There have been heated confrontations between the Treasury and Opposition benches throughout the brief budget discussion. While the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address was being discussed, Prime Minister Modi attacked the leaders of the Opposition. The Prime Minister emphasized how the nation has changed under his leadership since the BJP took office.

In a post on X, the Congress president responded to the Prime Minister, who had made him his main target in the Rajya Sabha yesterday.

He pointed out the rise in the unemployment rate, the decline in the average GDP growth rate, and the number of unfilled government positions under the current government, accusing the Prime Minister of claiming “countless false things” about the previous UPA regimes.

“Despite having ten years of political power, he only criticizes the Congress party—not himself. He avoided discussing price increases, unemployment, and economic inequalities even today.” “‘Modi Ki Guarantee’ is only to spread LIES!” Mr. Kharge said.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Jayant Sinha has stated that the “white paper” from the government will emphasize the nation’s “poor economic condition” at the time the Congress-led UPA lost power and how the BJP regime brought about the improvement.

During a discussion on the interim Budget in the Lok Sabha, Mr. Sinha stated that during the UPA’s rule in 2013, India’s economy was one of the “fragile five” in the world.

“Inflation had increased to 10%, bank non-performing assets (NPAs) had increased to 10%, and India’s GDP growth had slowed to 5%. The BJP MP stated that the nation was experiencing a balance of payments problem. He said that the change had been brought about by the Narendra Modi administration.

According to Mr. Sinha, “we will clarify in the white paper what the economy was before 2014 and how we have tackled the economic problems.”
